More Twilight 2000 figures.

Soon to to opened after far too long a wait!
Before I left NZ I purchased a number of items online and had them delivered to my inlaws. Amongst the items purchased were some packets of Twilight 2000 figures - some of which were still in the original packaging. (I was also generously given a couple of Twilight 2000 US figures by Modernkiwi at "The Kiwi's figures and stuff" that I am going to paint up and post when I get back home. ModernKiwi's blog has a nice mix of GW fantasy figures and 20mm figures that is well worth checking out)

Polish Paratroopers. These were purchased loose.
Noble Knight games had a few packets in stock - both loose and in the original blister packs - at some extremely reasonable prices, so I purchased their entire stock of them. I suspect the only reason they still had them is that they had listed them as being 15mm figures rather than as 20mm. This confusion probably resulted due to the fact this range of figures was designed to be used with Roco Minitanks range of modern vehicles, as well as with plastic figure ranges. So they were listed on the packaging as being HO scale, they are actually closer to 1/76 scale.

Polish Paratroopers, or Khandist scum?
The Polish Paratroopers will probably end up being used with Khandist forces.

Soviet Support Weapons. Straight out of the packaging.
The support weapons provided appear to be an AGS-17, and a NSV HMG. A very nice combination of weapons. These will provide a HMG stand, an AGL stand. Plus I have gained an extra tripod mount.

Soviet Support Weapons. Three crew to serve weapons, and a female soldier carrying a crate.
Next up are the two packets of Soviet Heavy weapons. In each set is meant to be three crew figures, a mortar, and an AT missile.

Soviet Heavy Weapons. purchased loose in the bag.
The first pack contains everything it should, however the unopened packet proves to be missing a key part - the AT missile launcher. The Missile launcher is probably meant to be an AT-4 Spigot, while the mortar is probably a 82-PM-41, or another Soviet 82mm mortar.

Soviet Heavy Weapons - Still in the original box, and missing the AT launcher.
Unpackaged Soviet Weapons - at least I have the tripod mount!
I plan to use the spare mount from the Soviet Support weapons set, and the tripod missing the launcher, as the basis of scratch building up two AT Missile stands, so all is not lost!

Soviet Infantry - still in the blister pack!
The officer figure is destined to be used as a high level command stand in a Soviet, or Soviet equipped force.  The other figures will probably end up being used in my Balkan hordes.

Unpackaged Soviet Infantry.

The blurb from the back of the packet.
1985? That dates these a bit! Sadly neither GDW or Grenadier are still in business.
All in all, quite a useful bunch of figures that I am looking forward to painting up!

  1. I recognise the Gettysburg map under the packages. Are you planning on a post-apocalyptic Gettysburg II? Could be fun!

As I type this I am inhaling the aroma of plum sauce in the making on the stove. The advantage of self-seeding plum trees is the crop of plums that are suitable for making jams and sauces. 15lb of fruit still left most of them on the tree... The birds will get the rest.

I did the jam yesterday, sauce today. Not sure I have enough jars... :-(
    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. Given that this year is the 150th Anniversary, it would be an interesting game to run! Well spotted on the map - it is actually printed on nine rubber mats, and I was thinking of using it to run a kriegspiel style game on. The plum sauce sounds good!

    2. Mayhap you'll get to try some. Made 3-and-half-jars last night with half the remaining fruit - the neighbour out back got the other half.

      It's a pretty fiery sauce...
      Cheers,
      Ion

There is one on eBay but it's wrong minis in it told the seller he did not care:( anyhow I'm doing a game that is Puttin attacking in Europe. Then it turns in to Twilight 2000 then the players find time machine and go in to the far future it becomes a Gamma world kind of game. Wish you were close we could work on a game together. Take Care Greyson in USA if this is put up twice I'm sorry had a problem with posting. :(

    1. Hi Greyson,

Thanks for you kind words. It sounds like the moderation feature is getting buggy again. I only have it on older posts as it helps cut down the spam.
Tracking down the old Grenadier Twilight 2000 figures is quite tricky, word of mouth and checking the usual sources such as E-Bay, since you are US based perhaps you could try the marketplace at TMP or Bartertown?

The plot of your game sounds interesting, and since it starts in present day could you use modern figures like the ones from Caesar or Revell? The Gamma World side of things sounds very interesting. I have heard of RPG campaigns that have tied together Twilight 2000 with the Morrow Project (that's an RPG that could be of interest to you)
Good luck with your gaming, and take care!

  3. Hi hope this one prints. Thank you I'll try looking at the TMP and B. Town that's a good place I had not looked yet. Hey that is a Great idea about the Morrow project you had. After the group gets to the US they could meet a Morrow project guy that needs more sleepers. I could have them get tucked in just before the last of the worlds nukes fly. Then off to the Crazy Gamma world of the future! I could give them one of those great Gamma world vehicles.Do you happen to know who makes one that looks close in 28mm could always use the tacky stuff to put a temp. smaller door on I have found that works nice if doors are to big. Or maybe you know of a 20mm Morrow project looking vehicle? Anyhow thank you for the Great Idea. I do hope your games go super well:-) I'm very sorry if this prints twice had a problem. Take care. Your Friend Greyson in the USA.

    1. Hi Greyson,
Glad I could help:) Seems like the Morrow Project angle would be a great way to make the jump to Gamma World!
As for vehicles, I would check out toy Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars to see if something sparks the imagination. For something very Sci-Fi see if you can track down old (and hopefully cheap) Matchbox Adventure 2000 vehicles. One of them was used as the basis for Judge Dredd's Killdozer in the 2000AD comics)
      On that note, check out:

      for ideas.
      Take care,
